UNESCO staff since 1997, he served first as Evaluation Specialist, then became the first Editorial Coordinator of UNESCO Web. From 2006 to 2011, he was UNESCO representative in Brazil. After this field experience, the Director-General entrusted him the responsibility to lead UNESCO’s efforts to mobilize resources and, since July 2015, to manage all UNESCO communication instruments (media, web, social media, events, visits …).
Before joining UNESCO, he worked as consultant for several European public services and private companies. From 1984 to 2004, he lectured and conducted research at the University of Louvain (Belgium). He holds a PhD in Communication Studies.
At the very beginning of his career, he worked for two years in Uganda as voluntary teacher in secondary school.
He is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese.
