Mark West studies ICT in education for UNESCO, looking specifically at how mobile technology can further international goals for education. He has authored several papers on mobile learning and helps plan and coordinate UNESCO ICT in education field projects in Asia and Africa. He is currently investigating global efforts to leverage mobile devices for reading as well as initiatives to use technology to build the capacity of teachers and improve classroom pedagogy. Mr. West coordinates Mobile Learning Week, UNESCO’s flagship ICT in education conference, which will be held in Paris from 20-24 March 2017 under the theme ‘Education in Emergencies’ and co-organized with UNHCR. Prior to joining UNESCO, Mr. West researched efforts to combat educational corruption in Central Asia as a Fulbright Fellow and worked as a teacher, university lecturer, teacher trainer and journalist. He is a graduate of Stanford University.
